Texas Wine Tasting

There is wide variety of wine tastes across the state. Most people would say that overall, Texas wines are on the sweet side. The truth is, there a lot of different styles and types out there to choose from. Sweet to Dry, most wineries are offering differing tastes for a wide variety of people. My recommendation is to visit your local winery or look for Texas wines in your local package store. Try the different wines that are out there. Don't be afraid to experiment with what is out there. You don't know what kind of gem you will uncover unless you try something.

One of the best ways to sharpen wine-tasting skills is to jot down a few quick notes when ever you taste an interesting wine. This simple process helps focus your thinking and pick out the specifics of each wine tasted in your palate's memory. This simple technique works even better when sharing tasting impressions with other wine-loving friends. Comparing your impressions with those of others with similar interests can be an excellent way to learn whether you are on the right track.

The TexasWine.com story

One day, a buddy of mine and I were discussing where to go on a camping trip. We typically go to the National Forest in Arkansas or the National Wildlife refuge in Oklahoma. One of us said said there should be something closer. What is in our own backyard? Well, this spawned an idea in all of us. How much have we explored what is really around us? Thus the idea was born to really rediscover Texas. Along the way in our many travels, we discovered another aspect of this great state. WINE!

This web site has since grown out of the love of Texas wines. It seems the story is actually just beginning with the wines that are produced in Texas. And it is a true under dog story at that! Texas Growers have all kinds of obstacles to battle just to get the wine to consumers. Despite these distractions, Texas Growers and Winemakers are creating some really great wines and are actually flourishing in the within state. New wineries and vineyards are springing up across the state every year. So come join us on our adventures and taste the spirit of Texas.
